Track Google Content Ad Success

This simple and free CGI script allows you to track clicks in any Google AdWords contextual advertising campaign — it processes your Apache server logs on any Unix platform and lets you know exactly what content pages are delivering your clicks.

If you’re looking for a free tool to track what content sites are delivering clicks from your Google AdWords campaign, the free trackGoogleContentAds.cgi [Unix tar | Windows zip] will allow you to see just where those clicks are coming from.

The script examines an Apache web server log and outputs a table showing each hit from a Google AdWords advertisement along with:

  • Number of hits via that ad, and
  • The specific URL for the page where that ad was being displayed

The data produced by the free script can help you to evaluate the success of your ads via given content pages, as well as help you identify appropriate negative keywords or negative site blocks to make your contextual advertising campaign more effective.
