Rx-Mex Shuts Down

January isn’t even finished yet, and we’ve seen the first casualty of 2006 in the pharmacy affiliate space: Rx-Mex has shut down. Since many affiliates had already moved on to more attractive offers from XLP, APN, and others, we believe the fallout from this particular collapse will be minimal.

Originally billed as a ‘Mexican pharmacy’, Rx-Mex in fact operated in its later years as a UK company, shipping via distribution partners in the UK, India, Mexico and Australia. We have no idea what Andre might be up to these days, now that his online business has collapsed, but we suspect the impact of this closure will actually have little impact on his affiliates. Why? Because we suspect that most affiliates had already moved on to the more attractive propositions available from XLP, APN, and other outfits.

Wherever you are, Andre, best of luck to you!

Affiliates looking to replace the role of Rx-Mex may want to check out our dedicated pages on XLP and APN.

We noticed that XLP is going after Rx-Mex affiliates aggressively, offering a bounty to existing affiliates for bringing on board those who had previously worked with the now-defunct merchant. Whether this will actually have much of an effect on the affiliate marketplace remains to be seen, but we’re pretty skeptical: we don’t think there will be very many former Rx-Mex affiliates who weren’t already aware of the XLP program and probably already working with them. (Certainly most readers of this site will already have been fully aware of them both!
