While not quite as glamorous or profitable as pharmacy affiliate programs, top affiliate programs in vitamins offer generous commission rates and a regular flow of re-orders.
The Big Dogs vs. Independents
Here at AffiliateInsight.com, we have focused more attention on pharmacy than on vitamins, but nonetheless we've noticed that affiliate opportunities in the area seem to be split betweeen some very large merchants operating solely through the affiliate networks, on the one hand, and much smaller independent merchants offering their own programs in-house. In general, the former seem to offer relatively low rates of commission on the highest volume products, while the latter seem to offer more generous commissions on focused, niche products.
In our view, most of those niche products offered by smaller merchants are 90% marketing spin, 10% sham, and approximately 0% of actual nutritional value. (You know the ones we mean: the 'nutritional supplements' guaranteed to extend your life, make you smarter, grow your hair, or turn you into an unstoppable sex machine.)
However, one or two of the smaller merchants do seem to be offering legitimate, quality products, with a sound value proposition both for customers and for their affiliate marketing partners.
